Check Out Cinci
The Cincinnati Reds have some excellent fantasy players. If any of these guys are still somehow FA in your leagues, you should really consider adding them while they are hot.
1. Jay Bruce – We get it, he’s no RJB (Ryan J. Braun) but he’s still “ubertalented.”
2. Chris Dickerson — I’ve mentioned him before. He’s an absolute stud; a must add.
3. Joey Votto — He’s proven to be a very streaky hitter but he happens to be on a good streak right now, smashing a HR 3 days in a row. He’s eligible at 1b and OF — Use that in daily leagues.
4. Johnny Cueto — Mentioned him yesterday. Probably a must add at this point though a recommended SIT against the Cubs.
5. Bronson Arroyo — Check out his recent numbers — he’s been very good.
real quick: remember when I cautioned Francisco Liriano owners about his slowed velocity… PSH like it mattered. What can you say about the guy that hasn’t already been said. He’s incredible.

More Starting Pitchers
Here are some guys who might be available in your league. All of these pitchers should only be thrown out there when their matchups are favorable.
1. Todd Wellemeyer – A sharp August should carry over to September– watch the matchups.
2. Johnny Cueto – His August has been great. He could be found on the wire because of that DL stint.
3. Shawn Marcum — He’s finally back and is worth a flier in hopes that he’ll return to first half form.
4. Anthony Reyes is also worth a look.
Brandon Morrow
For many, this news comes late, but if Brandon Morrow is available in your league, you must pick him up now. Brandon Morrow is in many ways similar to Joba Chamberlain. Both are dominating and both SP are converted RP.
Brandon Morrow has more of a chance to start hotter out of the gate than Joba.
Brandon Morrow is AWESOME and should be a top starter next year and for years to come.

HOT Adds SP
If you play with a trade deadline your only hope is the waiver wire. These names will help:
1. Hiroki Kuroda — His upcoming schedule is an absolute joke. He’s set to face San Diego, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco. Are you kidding me? If he’s not owned already grab him right now.
2. Josh Johnson — Tommy John surgery is awesome… So is Josh Johnson. Since returning from the DL, you’ll notice that he’s increased the velocity on his fastball and his ERA has decreased to a serious 3.12. Not bad. He’ll have some favorable matchups down the stretch as well.
3. Dana Eveland — His last two starts were impressive and so is his upcoming schedule. If you need a Starting Pitcher and the above two are already taken then this is your guy, depending of course on your league.

Anthony Reyes
Anthony Reyes makes for an interesting option down the stretch. There were a lot of expectations for Reyes and it makes you wonder if the move to Cleveland is what he needed. The only thing I worry about from this point forward is his K/BB ratio.
He goes up against Seattle today.

Elijah Dukes Returns
An outstanding night for Elijah Dukes against the Dodgers. He’s absolutely worth a pickup. He’s got both speed and power plus he won’t hurt your average. One’s criminal record has nothing to do with his performance… Most of the time.

Frank Francisco for Saves
Eddie Guardado was traded to the Twins. That leaves Frank Francisco with the save opportunities — at least for now! He hasn’t been pitching that well recently but then again neither was Guardado! His K to BB ratio is nice so the numbers indicate no problems. It’s just that he’s not an elite RP so don’t expect him to be one!
If he blows consecutive saves the Rangers probably won’t have too much of an issue going by committee. For now, Francisco is the most likely for saves.

OF with Speed
At this point we don’t need to talk about Denard Span because we’ve done that already. How bout that other outfielder on the Twins, Carlos Gomez. He’s still got the speed and he’s a better hitter than the way he’s been hitting so if you need speed he’s worth the add.
And one more OF with good speed and all around ability, the red hot Chris Dickerson. He’s leading off for Cinci and he’s on fire. He’s got speed, he’s hitting for average and is contributing in pretty much every category. Go get this guy.

Al Reyes for Saves?
The Mets signed Al Reyes to a minor league deal. He’ll make a few appearances there, get back into the swing of things, and has a pretty decent chance at collecting some saves. The Mets’ bullpen is terrible so this all makes sense. If you are in desperate for saves, why not.

Monday Night Notes
Was Andre Ethier dropped? Grab him now. He is on FIRE.
On another note, looks like Dan Wheeler has once again reemerged as the temporary closer while Troy Percival is out.
Btw, Ty Wigginton hit another HR Monday night… Check his numbers. They are insane over the past 10 days.
Now’s as good a time as ever to invest in Derek Jeter and for an even bigger buy low… STILL, fan favorite Robinson Cano. I know Jeter and Cano have been disappointments to this point but Jeter has been knocking the ball around and adding some steals as well. You figure if A-Rod’s bat picks up the way it should, Jeter’s value goes up even higher.
As for Robinson, he’s hit much better after that snail-like start but he’s still not where he needs to be… Not yet. Trading for Cano now is just as smart as any move you could make if you need a 2b.
Ian Kinsler’s got a hernia. He could be out for the remainder of the season. Owners should look to Alexei Ramirez (also eligible at SS — HUGE!) and Ian Stewart for help at 2b… that is if you can’t plug in your very own Ty Wigginton.
For more power you can look to Adam Laroche — one of those second half powerhouses. Luke Scott should also provide you with some pop.

Ty Wigginton
I’m not posting this to give myself a pat on the back. I’m just using this to reinforce the fact that you should, if you haven’t already, pick Ty Wigginton up if he’s still available. The Wiggles posting can be found HERE.
I realize that Carlos Lee is out of that lineup but that lineup is still a force especially with the Wiggles. Go get him now and take advantage of that eligibility.

1 Hitter, 1 Batter
Looking for hitting?
Pick up Mark Kotsay. He’s been an absolute beast and is likely available on your wire.
Looking for saves? Grant Balfour has SICK numbers and with Troy Percival down, you should expect him to close. Picking up Dan Wheeler isn’t a bad idea Just In Case but with Balfour’s numbers the way they are, the job should be his.

Closer Emerged
Cleveland Indians — Go get Jensen Lewis. I’d like to see more K’s but it looks like Rafael Perez is the setup guy and Jensen Lewis is the closer.
